Recipe: Spicy Cricket Hummus
When it comes to incorporating insects into their diets, those newly interested in entomophagy often don't know where to start. Luckily, cooking with insects is incredibly easy!
We are so excited to share our new recipes, straight from the Coalo Valley Farms Test Kitchen. Our goal is to teach you how to make healthy and delicious edible insect cuisine.
Spicy Cricket Hummus is one of our favorite cricket dishes. We chose it as our first recipe because it is simple, flavorful, and perfect to share with family and friends- even those reluctant to try bugs for the first time.
Here's what you'll need:
1 cup Chickpeas
3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
3 Tablespoons Sriracha
2 Tablespoons Tahini
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 Teaspoon Pepper
2 Cloves Garlic, Minced
1/2 Lemon, Juiced
2.5 Tablespoons Cricket Powder
1 Tablespoon Crushed Red Pepper
Optional: Extra Sriracha, Lemon, Garlic, and Crushed Red Pepper to garnish
Combine All Ingredients in Food Processor
Blend until Smooth & Transfer to Serving Bowl
Step 3 (Optional):
Sprinkle with Crushed Red Pepper, Sriracha, and Lemon Juice.
Swirl and Garnish with Garlic.
